PS Elements 2022 levels

I am using PS Elements 2022 on Mac OS 10.15.7. Any lighting adjustments I make, levels, etc., I see the preview but when I click OK it reverts to the original. I cannot make the correction stick. I have reset the preferences and re-launched, no change. I have tried with different file formats. Assistance, please.

Can you post screenshots or a video of what is happening?

Not really. All Im can say is that I make the correction and can see it but when I click on OK it just resets back to the original.
