PS Elements 2022 won't save image adjustments

Bought PSE 2022 second-hand 2 yrs ago. Running on MacMini, Monterey OS. Suddenly, I can't save my work - don't have write priveleges, it saith. I suspect there's a subscription required and the previous owner's sub just expired. Or is there something else? In any case, what should I do?  Thanks, Stan
