Update 12.1 installation errors | Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements

Errors occur when you try to install the Photoshop Elements or Adobe Premiere Elements 12.1 update.

Users are reporting errors during the installation of the 12.1 update to Photoshop Elements or Adobe Premiere Elements. This article discusses the actions you can take to fix the issues causing the errors. If you have encountered an error, note the specific error code displayed, and find a solution in this article.

Note:

For brevity, Photoshop Elements 12 and Adobe Premiere Elements 12 are referred to as "Elements application," in this article.

Error code: U44M1P2003 (Windows)

Error U44M1P2003 can occur because of more than one issue with the operating system or installation environment. To recover from this issue, choose from these two solutions:

Solution 1: Temporarily disable your antivirus program.

If you have an antivirus program running (specifically, Trend Micro Titanium™ Maximum Security), disable it when the 12.1 update is being applied for your Elements application.

Solution 2: Fix registry corruption issues.

A Windows registry corruption issue related to your Elements software can cause errors during the 12.1 installation. To recover from this issue, perform these steps:

  1. In Windows, choose Start > Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type regedit, and click OK.
  3. In the Registry Editor window, browse to the location:

    Elements Organizer registry

      • HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{9D80A7B7.......}
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{9D80A7B7.......}
    Photoshop Elements registry

      • HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{777B751F-C904-4BD7-8DFF-81F97A3C0BC5}
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{777B751F-C904-4BD7-8DFF-81F97A3C0BC5}
  4. In the right pane, locate the registry key named InstallLocation. Modify the value of the InstallLocation registry key to point to the installation folder location of your Elements software. The typical default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe.
  5. Start your Elements software, and choose Help > Updates.

I also have this problem with this update. I have tried to suggestion re checking the registry settings and they are OK. What other options do I have to fix this as the Adobe update manager keeps telling me I have an update to be applied. The forum seems to suggest this problem has existed since 2014 and I would have thought Adobe Photoshop elements programmers would have fixed this problem by now. I await your reply for some resolution.   Thanks   Allan
