PSE 15 Could not use the content-aware tool

Hello, I am having issues when I try ant cut and paste, im getting a box saying 'Could not use the content-aware tool because no pixels are detected' What does this mean, I use this all the time for years no problems.

    It is not entirely clear what you are doing and what you have been using "all the time".  Do you mean cut and paste or using the Content Aware tool?  It would also be helpful if you gave us a screenshot of what you are doing.  If an unexpected behavior is occurring when performing a command that is routine for you, you can try resetting the preferences file. Go to Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.  This will place the program in its out-of-the-box condition.
