PSE 15 freezes when importing photos and videos

When importing 410 videos and photos PSE15 froze and file number 88.  After waiting over and hour I closed the programs and restarting, PSE 15 seems to be importing but stops at the same file number.  Also tried re-starting my computer--same result.  As of know I cannot access anything on PSE 15 without getting the same message

Can you identify the file on which Elements is choking?

If so, try moving it to a separate folder and then re-start the import.

Thank you for your suggestion.  I moved the files in question to a secondary computer. Using that computer the offending file was imported successfully using PSE15 on that computer, as were many other files in the group.  But with some freeze problems which I could overcome by reloading PSE 15 (unlike on my main computer-see notes below)--obviously some investigation is required.  A temporary solution as that catalog is several years old.

HOWEVER, the main problem--I cannot use PSE 15 on my current computer.

When loading PSE 15:

1. A flash screen appears "Files Ready For Import" and I get the option to select YES or NO. Have tried both options.

2, Without further selections on my part, PSE 15 seems to be automatically importing the files I previously selected up to the offending file and freezes.  I can click again and get the option to close program or wait until it responds.  Yesterday I chose "Wait" and waited until this morning.  Repeated several times yesterday-only not for twelve hours.  The net result is that I cannot use PSE 15 for anything.
