PSE 15 UI too small after Reinstall
Hello, I use PSE 15 regularly, but had to reinstall it recently after a hard drive crash. When I now get into PSE, the user interface is extremely small, including menu items, tools, layers, text, basically everything except the photo. The UI is normal in all of my other apps. I found an old topic in this forum (with even earlier versions of PSE, e.g. 13) where many people complained about the same thing. The "fix" was to go into Preferences and change the UI Scale Factor to 200% which, when I tried it, was ridiculously large. When using PSE 15 before the hard disk crash, I never had this problem. I suspect there had been a software update that fixed it. On my recent re-install of PSE, I did a check for updates, and there were none. I'm assuming there are updates but just not being provided for older versions of the software.
One suggestion was to reduce the monitor resolution in Control Panel > System > Display. I'm currently at the default "1920 x 1080 (recommended)". Is that something worth trying? How much would I have to reduce the resolution? There is also a "Scale and layout" option there, for which I am at the recommended 125%. However, I have tried that. If I increase the scale to accomodate PSE, then everything else becomes huge. I also do not want to be constantly toggling back and forth between Display settings depending on what software I am running. I also won't upgrade PSE to a higher version for several reasons not worth getting into.
So right now, I think my options are either to do a lot of squinting with these old eyes, or try playing with monitor resolution. What are the pros and cons of the latter? For example, would it affect my ability to view the photo at 100% to make precise changes? Would I end up having to change back to the "recommended" resolution when using other apps? Thanks.
