PSE 2018 using up battery on mac laptop during sleep

Just noticed that if I leave my macbook pro in sleepmode with wi-fi on with the adobe files (catalog etc for PS elements on a sandisk 3.2 USB extreme pro stick) attached (PSE not active before sleep mode) the computer seems to use up the battery overnight quite a bit (~20% instead of maybe typical 1-2%)and the usb is somewhat warm in the morning. I see this even if wi-fi is turned off before closing the lid (sleep mode). If wi-fi is on and the adobe PSE usb stick is unplugged, the overnight consumption during computer sleeping is back to 1-2%. My computer is set to not check mail, notifications etc while sleeping.
It seems that an activity monitor (PS adobe...?) is active overnight and using up battery power).
Have others noticed something like this in their systems?

Nothing of Adobe's can be running if it's sleeping. However, USB devices will remain powered up during sleep, and drain power. See discussion on https://superuser.com/questions/443184/turn-off-usb-power-when-closing-macbook-lid
