PSE 2020 color-related functions severely malfunctioning

When I attempt to use the color picker, the colors shown bear no resemblence to the color. This function used to be very simple to use; now it is not usable at all.

I thought perhaps I should reinstall. When I login to my Adobe account, it says I have no products registered. When I try to register the product, it says that product is already registered. So I am completely stuck.
