PSE 2020 running very slow on Windows 10

Various commands run slowly – clicking one step back in History, transforming a layer sometimes. Odd boxes pop up showing the program is working on something – like “Image Size,” when all I did was click 3 steps higher in my history and there was nothing to do with resizing in any of the steps.

Have you tried turning off media analysis in the Organizer's Edit>Preferences>Media Analysis dialog? Face recognition and auto-creations can be big resource hogs that affect all other operations of Elements while they are running.

Just now, I unchecked everything in Media Analysis, just didn't click on Reset Face Analysis. My catalog doesn't have tagged people in it - not using it for family and friends at this point anyway.

It does seem to help - but it seems even better if I close the Organizer. I guess that is only a problem if I want to use the feature of the Photo Bin that allows us to view images selected in the Organizer.

I'll have to keep observing the performance to see if this continues to make a difference for me.
