PSE 2024 Layer adjustments reset button does not work

When I click on the layers adjustment icon, the Reset button for Levels, Brightness & Contrast, Threashhold and Posterized do not work.  After playing with the sliders, if I want to return to the original, I have to delete the layer adjustment layer and start over.

In Advanced mode you can go to Window>Layers or click on Layers at the bottom right in the Photoshop Elements interface.

I poked around and got the Layers Panel back.  So I tried again using the Brightness & Contrast Adjustment and found that I sort of got the Reset button to work.  If the adjustment is a clipping mask it does NOT work.  If it is NOT a clipping mask or if I release the clipping mask, the Reset button works.  Since I usually use an adjustment on a single layer and not the whole panel, this is an extra step that shouldn't be needed.  I don't recall having this extra step with PSE 2018.   Screenshot of the 'test' image attached.

I would try a more thorough preferences reset by going to

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\24.0

and deleting the Editor and Plugins folders.

Doing that removed the Layers Panel, and the icons above it, completely - so no help at all.  I even opened up a PSD file hoping the Layers Panel would show up.  No change.

What operating system are you using?

I would try a reset of the Photopshop Elements 2024 Editor Preferences by going to

Edit>Preferences>General (Windows) or Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024 Editor>Settings>General (Mac)

clicking on Reset Preferences on next launch, then restarting the Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024 Editor.

Operating system is Windows 11

I have already done:

Editor>Settings>General>Reset Preference on next launch - Closed program and relaunched - No change

Editor>Settings>General>Reset Preference on next launch - Closed program, restarted computer, relaunched program - No change

Editor>Settings>General>Reset Preference on next launch - Closed program, Turned off computer for 5 minutes, turned on computer, relaunched program - No change

Attached (hopefully) a screenshot.
