PSE 2024 - Some Photos can´t be deleted - "Other user ID detected. Try..."

Dear community,

I have been using Photoshop Elements and the Organizer to manage my images for many program generations. All PSE versions were always registered under the same Adobe ID.

The images imported into PSE are on a local hard drive - not on an online storage, they all come from me and were only imported by me under the same Adope ID.

Now I have the following problem:
Some of my pictures cannot be deleted using the organizer, but the majority of them can be easily deleted.
For the part of the images that cannot be deleted, I get the following error message:
"Different user ID detected. Try to log in with the previous Adobe ID from Editor."

But there isn't or wasn't another ID.

Since I can no longer sort out some of the images and remove them from my database, the organizer is becoming pretty unusable for me and I am therefore turning to you with the following questions:

- Does anyone know the problem described? And/Or maybe even has a solution for it?

- How can I contact Adobe Support by email or telephone to get technical support from them?

Greetings from Berlin
Michael

Glad you have it sorted out.  You were running the latest update of Elements 2024.  The only other idea I have for that program is to repair and optimize the catalog.  (You can still do that if you have not removed the program from your computer.)  I am curious if that would solve the problem.

I forgot that the Elements Web may not be available in all languages in Elements 2024.  You can press Ctrl+K to get to the Preferences Dialog.  Auto sync may not be there in the German language version.

However, IIRC, there was an Elements update that allowed some different language versions to use the Elements Web.  (That caused a different set of problems where some users were unable to turn off Auto sync.)   What version build do you have?  Look under Help>About Elements Organizer:

And I forgot to ask whether any of the photos have a blue cloud or green checkmark icon in the top right corner of the thumbnails as shown in my screenshot:

Hi Greg,
- I can't find a match between the image files related to the folder. All files are on the same hard drive.
It could be that only jpeg files are affected, I haven't found any affected raw files yet.
- No, no newly imported files are affected, the import data is completely different.
- I bought all programs directly from Adobe.
- No, no different accounts on the computer.
- No - no blue cloud or green checkmark on the thumbnail.

I have now deleted one of the affected images outside of PSE. PSE recognizes that the image is no longer there
and marks the thumbnail as a "missing file". However, I can't delete this thumbnail either, the message appears
again: "Other user ID detected. Try to log in with the previous ID from the editor." I have a German program version. There is no path "Edit > Preferences > Auto sync. Could you send me a screenshot of your path?

One other thought:  Do you use different User Accounts on your computer?

Hi Michael.  I have never seen this problem before.  You can turn off the Elements Web by going to Edit>Preferences>Auto sync and unchecking the boxes.

It is bizarre that you can delete some but not all photos.  Can you determine which photos can be deleted and which ones can't?  For example, are they on different drives or in particular folders?  Are they a particular format?

Are they newly imported photos?   If so, the files may be locked while media analysis is taking place or auto creations is examining them.

This certainly seems to be a problem that requires Adobe Support.  But you may want to try signing out of the program from the Help menu and trying to sign back in.  (This may cause more problems if there is really a problem with your Adobe account.)

One final question:  Did you purchase the program from Adobe or a third party?  If you purchased from the Microsoft Store, I suppose there could be account issues there.

Have the files been uploaded to the Elements Web?

Hi Greg,
thanks for your support !
I briefly tried Elements Web several years ago - but found that I didn't really need it.
Today I deleted all the photos that were saved on Elements Web. Now there are no photos stored there, only 34.02 kb of the 5 GB are occupied.
However, the photos in question cannot be deleted from PSE 2024.

Can I uncouple my local PSE from Elements Web myself (e.g. in the settings?)
regards
Michael
