In PSE2026, when a photo is edited (quick or full) any People tags are deleted.

How can I stop this happening?

    • It’s due to the metadata of the image being altered a bit. (That’s a very simplified explanation)

      Edit First, Tag Second:
Always complete your quick or full visual edits (cropping, lighting, filters) before manually assigning names or tags to the people in the photo.
    • Trigger a Re-Scan: If you edited a photo in an app like Google Photos (or PSE)and the tags vanished, make a microscopic 1% crop to the image and save it. This minor change forces the software’s background AI to re-analyze the image and bring the face tags back.
    • Use Non-Destructive Editors: Try using apps that save edits as "sidecar" files (like Adobe Lightroom) rather than exporting a whole new image. This leaves the original photo metadata completely untouched.

My wife is editing/tweaking photos that were possibly tagged years ago (so the “tag second” option isn’t applicable).

It does not delete Events tags (just People tags) - why pick on one type of tag to delete ?

The People tags were manually applied to the whole photo (not face-recognition-type tags), so can’t be automatically re-applied by scanning.
