Question

PSE 2026 resize layer cannot resize height or width without unchecking constrain proportions every t

Have had numerous versions of PSE. Prior version was 2022 on mac.

Cannot resize a layer for height or width without it changing the entire layer size (drag from side and it changes the proportions as if I were dragging in the corner

cannot resize height or width without unchecking constrain proportions every time.  Have tried going to Image> Resize> image size and unchecking constain proportions (only resample image is checked).

What I would like it to do is what the former PSE versions did,  go to the corners to reduce or increase image size proportioanlly , go to the middle and drag reducing either height or width.

use the cropping tool instead to resize your layer.  draw a box around the layer (with the cropping tool selected) then grab a control node to resize.

I have the same problem. Just upgraded from PSE 2021 to PSE 2026 (just because my new printer did not work with the older version). But now when I am trying to resize a layer for height or width the constrain proportions box must be unchecked EVERY time. I makes me crazy! How can get around this? PSE 2021 uchecked it self automtically. Why dont PSE 2026 do the same?

Please help me!

Hi @seejay_3884,

Can you please try unchecking the 'Constrain Proportions' checkbox while resizing the layer and see if that helps?

Unchecking Constrain Proportions works, but doesn't exist for text boxes.  This change in PSE 2026 annoys me so much I've reverted to the previous version and will only use 2026 if it has a feature not available in 2024. If proportional resizing is required, this can be done using the corner handles.  Changing the function of the other handles is RIDICULOUS and completely illogical.  Will not upgrade my PSE again if this change isn't reversed.  2024 doesn't have any time limitation on it.

Why you state is simply incorrect.  "Unchecking Constrain Proportions works, but doesn't exist for text boxes. "   yes it does.
