PSE 2026 Wants to Save Files to the Wrong Directory

I have noticed yet another file saving bug in PSE 2026: PSE wants to save files in the last directory in which PSE saved, not to the directory of the file you're editing.

For example

  1. Edit and save file foo.jpg in directory 20251207
  2. Edit file bar.jpg in directory 20251220
  3. When you try to save bar.jpg, PSE defaults to directory 20251207. to save it in the correct place, you have to navigate to 20251220 in the File > Save dialog box

I am using PSE2026 (20251112.EO.64802456) on Windows 11

Here's my list of file saving problems introduced in PSE 2026 that haven't been fixed yet:

  1. Editing files changes the date on the edited file by the offset to UTC
    • Workaround: load the file in the PSE Editor again (no need to make changes) and the date will be fixed in PSE Organizer

  2. When saving a file to a Version Set, the file name is incorrect (foo.jpg instead of foo_edited-1.jpg)
    • Solution uncheck and then recheck ' Save in Version Set with Original' in Save As dialog box - the correct name will now appear

  3. PSE wants to save files in the last directory it saved in, not the directory in which the current file lives
    • Workaround: manually navigate to the correct directory when saving files

You do not have the latest update to the program which may have fixed some problems with the Save As dialog.  Can you please post a screenshot of your Organizer's Edit>Preferences>Updates dialog.  Like you, my computer is not downloading the update automatically.  Adobe will be looking at my computer on Monday night to see what that problem is.  If you don't want to wait, you can uninstall the current build and install the program afresh either from the Adobe trial download page or from the Products page of your Adobe account.  I think I know the cause of the update failure and I will send you a PM about it.

I downloaded the latest PSE build from both of the links you mentioned. I tried the installation twice . In both cases, the installation process went very quickly and it seems nothing was actually installed - my PSE build number remains unchanged.

uninstall whatever version of pse 2026 you have installed THEN use the download from your account.
