Question

PSE 24 importing only a tiny fraction of photos from removable drive

Trying to move a copy of my catalog from my old PC to my brand new  Windows 11 laptop.  About 25 gb of photos were copied onto a brand new Sandisk external hard drive.  When I try to import in PSE 24, it finds something less than 400 photos,  not the tens of thousands that were copied onto my removable drive.  Can anyone tell me what's going on?  Also, the only photos were mostly Jpegs, but it looks like they've been copied over into new formats, including Jsons.  Is that normal?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry for the delay in a response to your post.   It is not entirely clear what you have done so far.  It sounds to me like you have copied more than just your jpeg photos to your external drive.  The .json files are small text files that are part of the catalog folder and contain information such as face recognition for each photo. Please explain in more detail what you copied.

You should probably read the this Adobe HelpX article which explains the best way to move a copy of your catalog and its photos to a new computer.  Then, let us know if you still have questions.
