PSE 9 Editor error message

I went to edit an image yesterday & the PSE 9 editor refuses to open & gives the following message. " Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable." It worked fine a week ago so. I have tried opening directly from the .exe file & all the other suggestions I've seen in various posts. Does anybody have any new ideas?
