PSE Editor 15 Mac will not launch

Hello,

I am using OSX 10.11.6

I have been trying all day to upgrade PSE from version 12 to 15 with no luck.

I used the PSE v12 "uninstall" apps first, then installed from disc v15.

The problem I am encountering is that the "splash screen" for the Editor will open briefly for about 1 second, then the app simply quits.  No error messages.

I thought the problem might be leftover presets form v12, so I used the uninstall apps (now for v15), then went into the main Library and User Library to manually remove all vestiges of both v12 and v15.  Then reinstalled v15.

No help.  Still, the editor quits within a second of starting.

Help?

    Hi ,

Have you tried to directly launch Editor app present inside support .

Go to application >> Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 >> Support Files >> Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor .

    and try to launch it

So I was just prompted by an Adobe notification to upgrade to 15.2, which I did, and now Editor appears to be operating fine.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

You might be a crash report dialog when the Editor crashes, can you please attach the crash logs here?

Also, can you please let us know if you are working on 2007 or older MAC machine.

    Thanks,

    Anwesha

The occurs no Crash Report dialog.  PSE Editor simply starts and goes away in under a second.  Nothing else occurs.

    I am using a 2013 machine.

    Thanks for the information Paul.

    Please try clearing preferences once.

To do so, keep Cmd + Shift + option keys pressed while launching Editor.

A dialog will pop up asking to Delete Photoshop Elements Settings file? Say yes.

Let us know if the problem still persists.

    Thanks,
    Anwesha

I have also just discovered the CrashFixUtility, however after downloading and attempting to run it, OSX responds with with the error message “CrashFixUtility” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash."
