PSE Editor 2020 won't launch from LR 6 ?

I use Adobe Lightroom 6 (version 6.14) that previously worked well with the editor in  Adobe Photoshop Elements 14.  I recently upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 (PSE2020).  However, now when I attempt to transfer a photo to Elements, the following situations occur:

>Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustments (preferred choice):

After a long (3.5 minute) to wait, I get the following message on the LR screen with an OK button: “The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor could not be launched”.  When I click the OK button, PSE completes its launch, and the photo file appears in the PSE Editor, and normal editing works.

>Edit a Copy:

Elements Editor launches immediately, and normal editing is available

>Edit Original:

Elements Editor launches immediately, and normal editing is available

I’ve tried re-downloading and reinstalling the PSE 2020 upgrade but can’t seem to get the smooth workflow that I had with the previous version.  Any corrective suggestions would help.
