PSE Organizer 2018 not showing all folders

I downloaded the trial for PSE 2018 to evaluate it for my use. For some reason Organizer doesn't show all folders under my picture folder. It stops at some point and doesn't recognize any pictures even if I manually add some of the missing folders. There are over 40.000 photos and movies under that folder structure, but is there an upper limit or what could be wrong?

The organizer has a folder panel on the left side.

It's not a simple view of the folders like in the Explorer or Finder.

It's a tree representation of the files which have already been IMPORTED into the catalog.

Subfolders with media files which have not yet been imported are not shown by default.

You can choose to display the subfolders of any folder by right clicking on that folder and choosing to show all subfolders.

You won't see photo files which have not yet been imported in the catalog.

You can import files from any folder with all its subfolders in the import menu, or right click on a folder shown as above and choose to import files.

Thanks, managed to see the rest of the folders with that show all subfolders. I managed to see the rest of the pics by importing the parent folder manually.

Why did Watcher import the first couple of hundred folders automatically, but stopped on some folder after that? The upper folder is a watched folder and organizer doesn't recognize even if I bring new files to that upper directory. Other watched folders are working fine, but they are considerably smaller. Seems like a bug in Watcher?

Not sure the Watch folders features works 'as intended' or 'as imagined by users'.

Compare two similar ways to 'import' new files from your drives.

1 - You click on the 'Import' button and select the master folder

2 - You set the path in the Watched folder options

Same internal process: the selected folder and its subfolders are scanned for new files. Only new files are imported (with the 'Import' button you get a report for files already in the catalog). That may take some time for a folder with tens of thousands of media files.

With the Watch folder, the same is made as a parallel background task. You don't master when the process is started, you can't stop it to get the most available resources for your current task; it's very disk and memory intensive and works in competition with other background tasks or other open softwares. It seems that the 'scan' is made only on starting the organizer, but I may be wrong.

I have decided it's a false good idea. I do know which folders to scan for new files. They are not in my big library of organized and edited files. The 'import' feature is very fast and only takes place when I decide so. If I have doubts and want to be sure a part of my library should be scanned again, I do it when I can spare ten minutes for a coffee; not even necessary to set it as night task. Remember: the Import feature skips files already present in the catalog.
