PSE12 dropdown menues unreadable

Hello,

I have used PSE 12 for years without issues. Initially I used W7 and then upgraded to W10. Initially everything worked ok and normal but lately I have issues with the dropdown menues. In Organizer they are compressed and unreadable and in Editor I only get a white field (see below) when pressing any of the menu buttons.

I believe the issues started approx 2 months ago when I suddenly got an error message "DirectX/Directplay is not installed".

Per your instructions I checked the legacy box in the control panel. The program then starts but when the am visibility errors.

Suggestions would be very welcome.
