PSE15: Disabling automatic barrel distortion correction?

Photoshop Elements 15: When I go to "Filter" -> "Correct Camera Distortion", PSE15 applies immediately a "correction" to the barrel distortion, but usually it distorts the image big time and I'm not able to fix it (i.e. I can modify it but it doesn't really help).

Why this happens and how can I disable it? It is REALLY annoying as it's not correcting any freaking thing but just destroying the whole image.

Thanks in advance.

There is no automatic camera distortion in that filter.

The settings of last edits are not sticky either, so you should always get your picture unchanged  and with the sliders set to 0.

I can't imagine what is happening in your case.

Maybe restore your preferences to defaut?

Many thanks for the quick reply. When I open that filter all the sliders are at 0, but the image is nevertheless altered. As far as I can remember I haven't set any particular preferences but I'll try resetting them anyway.

Anyway, glad to hear that this is not normal...

Are your pictures normal jpegs out of camera, or are they raw files processed in ACR or any other raw converter?

There is frequently an in-camera distortion correction. It would be normal to get a different view if you shoot raw plus jpeg and compare the out of such camera jpeg to a straight ACR raw conversion in Elements.
