PSE15 - How long should it take for initial face recognition/Smart Tags?

I just upgraded to PSE15.  I never used the Organizer in prior PSE versions (9, 11, 13) but thought I would give it a try with the new PSE 15 installation because I wanted to try the face recognition and smart tags features.  I imported about 80,000 photos from my hard drive.  The program has run from about 24 hours now and face recognition is showing 46% complete.  My understanding is that PSE15 is also supposed to automatically assign smart tags, but I don't think it has even started that process yet.  I am running a Dell XPS desktop with Intel i7 3.40 GHz processor, 16 GB of memory and over a TB of free space on my hard drive.

Is it typical for it to take this long, or is there a problem?  Maybe there is a limit on the number of photos the PSE15 Organizer can handle?

I am curious how long your initial import took to finish the Face Recognition and Smart Tag process - how long for how many images?

Hi Roberta,

The time taken for Face analysis and Smart Tag assignment depends on the size of the catalog and size of the individual images. Face analysis and Smart tag generation process run in background and they are designed in a way that they won't hog all your system resources so that you can continue using other applications and do other tasks simultaneously.

For smart tags, you can open preferences(Ctrl+K), select media analysis and verify that Analyze media for smart tags is checked. If it is already checked then please wait for the analysis to finish.

In case you do not see any smart tags even after face analysis is finished then please revert.
