Question

PSE2026 autocreate does not work for "new" photos

“New” files, from 2024 and later, although not all, do not autocurate. I made a test catalog and imported 10 “new” photos, and it would not autocurate. Checking task manager when attempting to autocurate 50 or so photos, autocreations.exe would run for about 10 seconds and then exit and no autocuration would be performed. JPEG files would autocurate, but not raw files, even for an older Nikon Z6 and 24-200mm lense.

In the preference file IN ORGANIZER  you need to check this:  EDIT>PREFERENCES>MEDIA ANALYSIS

For the auto creations to work you have to tell organizer to watch whatever folders.  DO NOT tell it to monitor “C:”

When you get files to add:    Change the file type to “all files” “*.* and the issue with the raw images should disappear.

In Edit->Preferences->Media Analysis→ People View Settings→Photos is checked, Videos is not checked.

In Edit->Preferences->Media Analysis->Analysis Options →Photos is checked, Videos is not checked.

In Edit->Preferences->Media Analysis->Analysis Options →Show Smart Tags and Auto Create is checked.

In Edit->Preferences->Media Analysis->Analysis Options →Generate Auto Creations is not checked.

Changed watch folders from OneDrive, which is not used, to the E:\Pictures folder, but in Task Manager, Elements Auto Creations 2026 only runs for about 10 seconds still. This was done in File->Watch Folder. There was no option for file type selection. Watch Folders and their SubFolders was checked. Notify me was checked, not automatically add to Organizer.

I changed from filter->Local Media Only to filter->All Media and there Auto Curate functioned as above. I do not have any synced media.

I checked the number of  files in the catalog and there was no change when Auto Curate was run.

@Keith26617458yo4v your post title says autocreate but you seem to be talking about auto curate.  I also had a similar problem with the auto curate failing to analyze newer media files.  It required Adobe’s assistance to fix the problem.  I suggest you contact Adobe Support to see whether they can help you.  If they do not have a fix, I will escalate the issue for you.
