PSE8 closes after I apply a layer style then try to move object with arrow keys

I am using a laptop with Windows 10 and PSE8.  When I apply a drop shadow to a object using the layer styles function, then try to move that object with the arrow keys on my keyboard it causes PSE to lock up then close.  Any ideas of how I can fix this?

    That was a bug on the windows side that started with pse 6 and was fixed by pse 10 or 11.

    Anytime one applied any Effect from the Effects panel, the arrow keys would stop working for nudging layers.

    The workaround then and now is to use Image>Transform>Free Transform or Ctr+T to nudge the layer/object.
