PSE8 Deactivate and Erase License Number for Re-install same PC

I need to uninstall and reinstall my PSE8 (on same PC) to resolve a problem.

The Organizer works fine but the Editor crashes on open

I guess that I need to 'deactivate and erase the license number' before the uninstall?

Deactive is on the Editor/HELP menu but I can't get the editor to run to do that.

I will be re-installing on the same PC.

Tried to connect to CHAT, but message says that it is 'closed'.

I'm afraid if I uninstall without deactivation & license erase that I will not be able to re-install.

Please comment if you can help.

The license number is linked with the identification of your computer.

If you uninstall and reinstall, the license still recognizes your computer. There may be changes like changing the mother board or main drive which may prevent recognition.

So, even if you don't need to deactivate or reactivate,  it may be a good idea to do so. You deactivate from the Help menu (in newer versions it's called 'sign out'). After reinstallation you reactivate or sign in from the same menu;  then you enter your license number.

    I can't deactivate via Editor>Help

I can only briefly see the Editor>Help popup menu before the editor crashes.

I quickly select deactive and erase license, but I get an error message (below).

Perhaps because it has already crashed. I am connected to the internet during this.

We were unable to connect to Adobe. This could be becauses you do not have

an active internet connection, or because you are currently using a firewall
