PSE9 editing Defaults

I recently said yes to open in edit mode.  Since then, evverything in my workspace  doesn't work the same.  HOW do I reset  back to how it was before.  I tried deleting PSE9 and reloading it, but it comes back the same way.  How do I fix this. I am in the middle of a big project, with a due date, and I can't work with it the way it is now.
If I buy PSE15 and download it, will it keep the old settings or will it start fresh?

Thank you for any help you can give me, I am desperate!

    Hi Harold,

Please try after resetting the preferences of editor. For this:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately while launching the Photoshop Elements editor.  A dialog will come , click Yes to delete the file.

You can try PSE15 for one month simultaneously . For this you need not to uninstall/delete PSE9. For new features in PSE15, please checkout this page

or you can upgrade to PSE15, it will not keep old settings and it will be a fresh start.
