PSE9 & Win 10

1. I have PSE9 and it was working perfectly along side win 10 since I bought it. Recently I had to clean out drive c and re install win 10 then all software. My printer a canon MX535 was working perfectly with PSE9 before hand but PSE now tells me that I have no WIA support and it cant contact printer. I tried my laptop for printing and its perfect, also on win 10 but not PSE 9. I installed Windows Scan, it said I need a printer (which is on and connected) I mention that because its outside PSE9.

2. I spoke to an agent at Adobe and he gave me a support link which does not work. /go/getsupport. I reinstalled PSE 9 for the 4th or 5th time in 2 days, but still getting the same message, no WIA. I also tried to download 2 updates to PSE9 and they dont work. 9.0.3 update and PSE Camera Raw 6.5 update. It refuses to install them and says, all the time, try again later.

I suspect win 10 to be at fault for the WIA, as I can do it via usb cable which I don't want. I tried PSE9 through the usb cable and it was good, not a problem.

so, no WIA,via PSE9 but does work though Canons Image Garden image software scanner.

    Correct answer Jeff Arola

I uninstalled 64 bit and download and installed 32 bit, no change. Yes I was using twain before but when I go into scan i get only WIA option, which of course is no good. What are these plug ins that I should be looking at? So 64 bit is now back in. I was hopeful when 32 was going in it ran so smoothly. Updates done by the way, found the answer to that in an adobe forum. There are quite a few posts in there giving Adobe hell for selling 'inferior and unusable' software.

Follow the instructions on the following link under where it says Photoshop Elements 9 and 10 >Windows>64-bit Windows to get the Twain plugin into pse 9 and see if your scanner shows under File>Import in the pse 9 editor.

TWAIN is not installed with Photoshop Elements 11

I think my ver is 64 bit, from a disc. So how do I find a downloadable 32 bit. This sees the obvious solution as I have no TWAIN.

    I did find this though:

Note, if you have a 64-bit version of Windows, the 32-bit version of Photoshop is not listed or available for download from the Creative Cloud desktop app. If you require a 32-bit version of Photoshop for Windows for compatibility with legacy plug-ins or device drivers, you can download the 32-bit version from the links below.

No  good to me as this does not state elements 9, which is what I googled for

In your case since pse 9 is 32 bit there is twain support.

No twain is only for 64 bit programs on 64 bit windows os.

But twain is not why WIA is not working.

Did you install the latest drivers from canon?

Maybe you were using twain before and now that you reinstalled need to put back the twin plugin for pse 9.

TWAIN is not installed with Photoshop Elements 11

You can install the pse 9 updates by downloading the installers from here:
