Hi, using an old bought version of Elements ver9.  Now taking images in RAW format on a Canon EOS80D but Elements just doesnt recognize the file type (.CR2).  Is there a fix or is my version too old.

The EOS80D was first supported in Camera Raw 9.5 but Elements 9 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.5. In other words, yes, your Elements 9 is too old.

However, you can use the free Adobe DNG converter - which is standalone software, not related to Elements 9 - to convert all your 80D RAW files to DNG format. You can then open the converted DNG files in Elements 9, not the Raw files from your camera. That means converting every single photo you shoot with your camera from Raw to DNG format before Elements 9 can open it.

Tip: A common error when using the DNG converter is to point the converter to the Raw files (CR2 files) you want to convert. It does not work like that. It'll say it cannot find any. The DNG converter works at folder (aka directory) level. Point the converter to a folder containing your CR2 Raw files, even if there's only one CR2 file to convert. The converter will then find the Raw files inside the folder.
