Question

re PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 2026. Cannot open Editor. Where do I find how to uncheck the Media Analysis and Auto Sync tabs. My keyboard won't let me press Ctrl+K; so is there another way?

When I open Editor within the prog - nothing happens. I understand that I need to uncheck Preferences Media-Analysis and Auto Sync but I cannot seem to do this as my keyboard doesn't react when I press Ctrl+K which is what I have been told to do. I cannot use the prog without this apparently so please can someone help me.

No, not the Editor’s menu.  The Media Analysis and Auto Sync options are in the Organizer’s Preferences dialog.  The only reason to turn these off for the Editor is because the heavy background analysis work in the Organizer can sometimes cause problems with the Editor.

Hi Greg. Thank you. I have done this now, but the program still will not load. I can get into the organizer but not the Editor. I have also tried contacting adobe support but I get no joy from that. I really don’t know what to do next.

Try trashing the prefs using keyboard shortcuts, while launching the Editor

Windows: Press and hold Alt + Control + Shift immediately after you click to launch Photoshop Elements.

Mac: Press and hold Option + Command + Shift immediately after you click to launch Photoshop Elements.

Confirm: Release the three keys after a couple of seconds when a prompt should appear asking if you want to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.

    Click Yes

N.B. timing is important so you may need to try a few times. Try it with the Editor button in Organizer or by opening the exe (application) file from Program Files.

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Elements 2026\PhotoshopElementsEditor

Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 2026/Support Files/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor

Added:  I am referring to the Organizer’s Edit>Preferences dialog.  If this does not help, you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

Would you know how to navigate to this folder if you needed to?  (You need to)

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2026

Scroll down inside that folder to PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and dbl ckl it

    Does your Editor open?

Media Analysis and Auto Sync tabs are under the Edit>Preferences menu dialog.

Sorry - I feel a bit of a chump. So where do I find the Edit>Preferences menu dialog? I can’t seem to find it in Photoshop Elements 2026.

    @DAVSAMP49

     Edit>Preferences menu dialog?

Make sure you are in the Editor menu, not the Organizer.
