Rectangular Marguree tool

When I try to use the Rectangular tool, it automatically switches over to the elliptical tool, and I cannot reset it to do a Rectangular cut or copy. this just started about a week ago and I cannot get it to clear up.  Any Ideas how to get this reset to work properly!>>????
