Rectangular marque
Photoshop Elements 14: I have been using Elements for years. In this version, the rectangular marquee immediately jumps to an oval selection instead of the defined rectangle. What can I do to make this work correctly?

Try to reset the tool. On the tool's option bar, lower right, look for a box with lines. Click on it to reset.
If that does not fix it, reset preferences to default:
