Reduced colour depth after upgrade from Adobe Photoshop Element 2018 to 2026

I'm running Adobe Photoshop Elements on a Win 11 machine which I connect to via Remote Desktop.

This has worked fine until upgrade to version 2026. See attached images for comparison.

- On my laptop (no remote desktop) version 2026 looks normal
- Element version 2018 - or another applikation - via Remote desktop is normal

- Element version 2026 via Remote desktop: Reduced quality

Thanks for any hints how to overcome this problem

I don't know of any setting or other solution that may be applicable.  I suggest you contact Adobe Support and see if they are aware of this.  You can start a chat session by going to the Contact Adobe Support page. (https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen) Make sure you are signed into your Adobe account and try typing Agent when the chat window opens in order to avoid the chatbot. (If you use my link, the chat window should open automatically.)

While I can see some differences between your two screenshots, that doesn't tell us very much.  The two images as uploaded are different dimensions.  So has one been edited and the other not?  Are the original images raw or jpeg or something else?  Has any editing been performed on the images before the screenshot was taken?  Are the images being viewed on the same monitor?

Thanks for your response Greg. I'll try to add some more info for clarification:
- I have opened the same image - unprocessed png - in Elements 2018 and 2026

- The difference in dimensions comes from taking the screenshot - not exactly the same area.

- Same image opened in other applications looks good as well

Based on this, my theory is that Elements 2026, the handling of graphics is different from 2018 (and the other applications), and that this "different" does not work well over Remote Desktop.

My hope is that there is a setting in 2026 with can eliminate/compensate this behaviour.
