Hi @TACrites

You cant reset the Face analysis for one person but you can manually correct the recognition from people room.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to People room
  2. Go to Named tab
  3. Select the stack for which you want to correct
  4. In below section you will see the faces associated with a particular name
  5. Hover over the face click on the Not this person icon

. . . And as I think about it, the easiest solution would be to simply select all of the person's photos in the media grid and tag the photos with a People tag for that person by click and drag. The only downside is that there will only be a generic icon instead of the person's face for those photos in the People room stack. But do you really need the face in the stack?  The whole reason for tagging a photo is to be able to find it in the future. This method accomplishes that goal.

@TACrites said:  I moved some photos around, outside of organizer. Yes, I now know you aren't supposed to do that. After that it seemed like Face Analysis wasn't working for some people. Under their name in People it didn't show their face (and I could not assign a face). So I went to media and under People Tags I deleted their name.

So, it would seem that Face Recognition was completed on the photos before you started moving them around.  And since you moved the files outside of the Organizer, they are now treated as "missing."  The face recognition coordinatates for those files are still present in the .json folder but they will only present a generic face icon in the People room because the files are missing.  Deleting the names of people who have been previously recognized will not cause the photos to be analyzed again.  And, although you may have thumbnails of the photos remaining in the grid, it would appear that you can't manually name a person in them because the files themselves are missing.

For those files that are not missing, you can manually enter the name and they will be added back to the new name tag you have given to the person in the People room.

The only possible workaround I can think of is for you to delete all of the missing files from the catalog.  Then delete the non-missing photos of the person from the catalog but obviously don't delete the files from the hard drive where they are stored.  Then, reimport all of those files to the catalog.  When imported, you should be prompted to import the existing keyword tags but the People tags will come in under the Imported Keyword tags category.  From there, they can be retagged with the People name tag, instead of the Keyword tag.  The newly imported files should also be analyzed again for face recognition.

I  know this sounds like a lot of work, but that's what happens when you don't handle your files within the Organizer.

The short answer is you cannot reset face analysis for one person.  But I'm not exactly sure what your problem is, so there may be a workaround.

Are you saying that some Named People stacks contain photos of the wrong person?

Or, are you saying that the program is suggesting the wrong name for a person whose face has been recognized?

Or is the problem something else?  Please explain.

I moved some photos around, outside of organizer. Yes, I now know you aren't supposed to do that.  After that it seemed like Face Analysis wasn't working for some people.  Under their name in People it didn't show their face (and I could not assign a face).  So I went to media and under People Tags I deleted their name.  I then let Organizer think about it for awhile to find this person again and it never did.  So I when to a photo with this persons picture and 'Added' their name figure Face Analysis would then use that to go find all the other pictures with this person.  Previously this person was in a number of pictures.   Now Face Analysis will not find any pictures of this person.  I can find them myself and assign a name to the face but it will not be done automagically.
