resize issue

I have been using elements 10 for years, no issues.  When I take a picture with my Sony DSC-H50 which I have done also for years.  I down load them into the organizer.  Then I go to elements 10 and have always resized them to 1200 for Ebay posting, or 900 for sending through email.  And when I do they decrease in size and then I can hit view and eather "fit on screen" or "actual pixals"

I do not know what happened, but now in the size boxes, it showes 34inches W & 45 inches H and if I resize it the picture to the 1200 or 900  it stays the same, and if I go to view, it is blowen up super big.

I have tried unistalling at reinstalling both.  no help.

What is wrong? or what did I do wrong? and how can I get it back to the original form?

Thank you,

Jon

Thank you, for your response and information.  I have fixed the issue.  I that box was unchecked.  So now when I insert eather 1200 or 900 the size reduces as it did before, and then I can bring it up with the view button and do my text insertion or any modifing that I need.

Thank you

If the size in inches is modified when you change the pixel dimensions, that means that the 'resample' box in the resize dialog has not been checked. If you want to resize at the same time the pixel and the inches dimensions, you have to 'resample', that means changing to a lower 'resolution' in pixels per inch.
