I want to enter a photo contest the requirements are to submit a photo with ''maximum 5mb''.  How do I resize a picture to fit 5mb in Photoshop Elements 11.

I shot my picture in RAW, processed it and saved it in PSD. The pixel dimensions are 45.6M (width- 4608, Hight - 3456) Thanks for your help.

In Editor, go to File>Save for web. In the dialog that comes up, I usually make the long side 800px and leave the field empty for the short side. Be sure that "Constrain Proportions" is checked. You will probably want to save as JPEG file format.

My guess is that if you save in jpeg format (which is probably what is expected), you'll get less than 5 MB while keeping your image pixel size, at quality 10.

Yes of course they want jpeg format.

I did a test: Image, resize, imagesize, checked Constrain Proportions, saved as jpeg, quality 10. I got 3.2M. the file is under 5mb. So I guess it worked.

    Thanks for your help.
