Save/Save as - 3 clicks to save a jpg file? (Photoshop Elements 2020)

Why on earth does it take THREE clicks to save a simple amendment to a JPG file using Save or Save As (which incidently appear to presnt IDENTICAL dialog boxes)?

1. One click for filename (which I leave unaltered from the original filename)

2.  One click to confirm overwrite.

3. One click to set JPG options (which I leave unaltered from the maximum settings)

It actually takes MORE clicks to save the file than alter the jpg itself which is a simple 'blemish/spot removal brush.  So....

a) Why bother having distinct Save/Save as file menu items when they essentially present the same dialog box?

b) Surely have some options to override the necessity to always click the 'Overwrite confirmation' and 'JPG options'.

c) Have a Quick Save which allows the user to save a JPG quickly, trusting him to know what he is doing

Correct answer Greg_S.

If you go to the Edit>Preferences>Saving Files dialog, there are some options for changing how files are saved and it can reduce some clicks for you.

Depending on the option you choose in Preferences, the behavior of Save and Save As will be different.

Ctrl+S is a keyboard shortcut for saving the file quickly if you don't use the option to Always Ask.

And I'm afraid I don't share your trust in users knowing what they are doing.  😁

Many thanks for the response. Your advice is certainly saving a click or
two. It was just so frustrating editing a photo in a couple of seconds and
then taking another 3 clicks to save it. Still think an option to have a
default JPEG quality would be nice when saving (i.e. don't ask for the JPG
quality every time).

Again, much appreciated and thanks.

This is user to user forum, you are not talking to Adobe directly. Try on Ideas part of this site. If you are talking about Photoshop Elements post should be moved to that forum, I can do that just confirm that you want help for Elements not big brother Photoshop.
