Scanning with Elements 13

How do I scan with Elements 13?  import (also export) are always blanked out.  I have downloaded the latest drivers for both Elements 13 and my printer/scanner, an Epson ET-2550  This is most frustrating.  I have hundreds of photos I want to scan to my computer.

    Can you scan with your scanner outside of PSE? If so, scan and save in a destination folder, and add to the organizer subsequently.
