Script fonts not working in pse 14

I've seen this question before on a thread before, but none of the suggestions offered have worked for me, so I am posting my issue.

None of my cursive fonts will work in photoshop elements. I have tried newly installed fonts and fonts that came installed on the computer. The letters that should be connected letters have large gaps between them, and there is no spacing option in elements. Please help! Amongst many other things, I have even uninstalled PSE 14 and reinstalled in 2-3 times, and done the same with all of the fonts that I am trying to use.
