Question

Separating a double exposure into its separate elements

I have a double exposure photograph which shows a similar scene where the two photographs were taken at right angles to each other. i.e. one photo was taken in landscape mode and one in portrait mode but the  film was not wound on and hence the two images were superimposed on each other. Is there a photo product such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, and a technique which could help me undo the double exposure and separate the two images.

You can try to select the components and reassemble them on a new canvas.

Use one of the selection tools (e.g. lasso or selection brush) to make the selections, then copy/paste them individually.

For the canvas, go to File>new>blank file and enter the parameters (h&w), etc.
