Happy New Year !!

In reading articles and tutorials I find that I am instructed to use certain adjustments that do not appear on my version of ACR in Elements 2018.

Which adjustment sliders do I use when I am told to use the Brightness adjustment?

What sliders have Shadows & Highlights taken the place of?

How do I save an adjustment setting I have made on an image in ACR for subsequent use as a bulk preset adjustment for similar images shot under the same or similar conditions?  All the tutorials describe the method for Photoshop or Lightroom and Elements does not seem to have ha

I have recently purchase a Datacolor Spydercube and have found that there is no one all inclusive source of directions for it's use. The manual covers most of the aspects of it's use but not all. Other articles or tutorials have additional information but are also not all inclusive.

I have spent a lot of time collating  information from various sources. I am sure there are many others who have been as frustrated by this as I was.

I wondered if it would be in order for me to present this "cheat sheet" on this forum for discussion and comment .I am not an expert and therefore there are probably glaring errors and easier workflows which more experienced members could correct?

When I started with the project I had no idea that I might share it with others so I have not kept a bibliography of sources.

It's not in the 'basic' editing tab available in Elements, but you don't need it. The equivalent in the basic tab is 'Exposure'.

What sliders have Shadows & Highlights taken the place of?

They are common with the full ACR version in Photoshop. The usual workflow is to select the sliders from top to bottom. The general exposure is generally set for midtones before  dealing with Highlights and Shadows. You can adjust the tones in the three ranges (highlight, midtones and shadows) very precisely and efficiently without needing to use curves or the usual Hue/Saturation/Lightness commands you may be used to in Photoshop or Elements.

How do I save an adjustment setting I have made on an image in ACR for subsequent use as a bulk preset adjustment for similar images shot under the same or similar conditions?

The trick is that each time you apply a set of adjustment to a picture, the settings are saved in a text sidecar file (.xmp) but also in a 'previous conversion' location. You can always use the previous conversion to a new file or to a batch of new files opened at the same time in the ACR dialog. This is a way to build your own library of  'preset' equivalents. This can be to save and store a set of edits created by the full version of Photoshop or Lightroom. You open the raw file used as the source, save it without any change. Then the 'previous conversion' settings are available for your current editing (even if it contains features not available in the Elements ACR).
