Spinning Cursor

Why does my cursor start spinning when I edit a photo? It happens when I erase or paint. It is not the spinning color ball of death. The actions work but the spinning cursor makes it hard to see what I am doing. I am using Photoshop Elements 2020 on my IMac with Catalina OS
