Text Engine failing on startup?

Hi. Having a problem opening any of my PSD files that contain text. I'm using photoshop Elements 12 and have been for several years. When I go to open a file that contains text layers, a message comes up saying

Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?

If I click yes or no, the file will not open. It says "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

Please help. This has been working fine for years and I use it a lot.

    Hi,

    Apologies for this inconvenience.

    Request you follow these steps and see if the issue resolves:

    • Quit Photoshop elements Editor.
    • Go to location C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
    • Rename folder TypeSupport to TypeSupport_Old.
    • Relaunch application and see if it works fine now.

      Hi Arshla,

      I tried this and it worked. Many thanks. The file location was not exactly the same as your path but I found the file and renamed it. It then worked

      This doesn't work for me. I'm in Adobe Photoshop 11. Please help!!!
