Thmbnail sizes change arbitrarily

I use PSE 2019 on Windows 10. I open files on Editor by double-clicking on the PSE screen. I normally set thumbnail size to extra large icons but I note that thumbnail sizes change arbitrarily as I open a floder. Is there a way to save my extra-large thumbnail settings?
