Thousands of photos in MEDIA tab, but none in PEOPLE tab
PSE 2018 Organizer
I have been an active user of various PSE versions for many years, but never used Organizer versions before buying PSE 2018. I installed it on my huge (4 TB) 😧 drive, and imported >20,000 JPGs to Organizer, asked for visually similar faces to be stacked, and tagged about 60 different people, and made some good use of this extremely useful organization for a while. The tagging occupied many hours over many days, but was worthwhile effort. Then one day, I could not get Organizer to open, with error messages saying that Organizer had stopped working, and each time there was a .dmp file created. I have had four, (or more) chat tech support persons try to help me, with no lasting results. On advice, I uninstalled PSE 2018 from D:, and reinstalled on my much smaller SSD C:. Sometimes when on remote help, the unnamed faces are displayed, but upon the very next move, not there. I have done the repair function, the optimize function, and the reindex function. After requesting repair, the message is "No errors found in the catalog." I click "re-index visual similarity data", and "repair anyway." The catalog named "LYNN" when opened at the MEDIA tab displays many thousands of JPGs. I have allowed many hours for reanalyzing the files. Sometimes, when a tech support person is in remote operation, the stacks of faces will appear, but as soon as I name one, the People stacks no longer appear. I have what seems to me to be an intractable technical problem, and one which is not amenable to first level technical support. At least four Adobe tech support reps have tried, to no lasting solution. Perhaps it is time to try a higher level of support.
I truly appreciate that the chat reps worked long and hard to try to get the problem solved. There has to be a solution that they did not know about, otherwise the People tab screen would not be essentially null, empty . Note that the Media tab shows one screen's worth of what are actually many thousands of JPGs, but when I switch to People tab, the message is to import images, although they are clearly already in the catalog.
If there are navigation steps to force the stacking of visually similar faces among the JPGs displayed in the MEDIA tab, I will try it again, but with little confidence, based on past failures of the named and unnamed stacks to display reliably.
