trouble

I have photoshop elements 2021.  used it many times..

last time- last week.  today it will not scan. 

message says it is "in use or not installed", neither apply. 

Have power, and light on.  did unplug and re plugged from power and computer, several times..

no change.

I'm not a geek, so at loss as to correct this problem.  

Help greatly appreciated...Grannie
