Question

trying to import photos from canon R5 mark2 to elements 2025.

I have purchased a canon R5 mark2. I have adobe elements 2025 with version 17 camera raw installed. When I try to import photos from camera or card reader, the photo downloader says <none  detected>. With that being said, if I import "files and folders" my files come up EOS_Digital (I:) I have a XFVC,  MISC, DCIM, and a CRM folder appear on the right. The MISC file shows up under properties as a exFAT file with how much information is on the CF express B card. If I click on the DCIM file, a 100EOSR5 file shows up, and when I open up that file, all my pictures show up. If  I highlight all my photos and click open, All my pictures show up in organizer (all my pictures are RAW CR3). I can edit them, save as jpeg or any format. When I click the "Back" arrow they show up with my other photos. Which is normal for me, but when I unplug my card reader from my computer, and try to open one of the pictures, it searches but can't find the pictures. For some reason its not downloading the pictures. Any help in getting the pictures to come up when I try to import from camera or card reader would be great.

@Glenn 8675309, I don't think I have ever seen a CFexpress card with a 64GB capacity.  And I doubt whether there are many, if any, laptops with a card reader that can read a CFexpress card.  So while it is true that some older card readers cannot read newer and higher capacity cards, I don't think that is the OP's problem here.  CFexpress cards require a special reader.  Until very recently, the readers have been quite expensive.  I haven't bothered to get one since the USB connection from camera to computer is very fast.

Thanks, George.  I have reported this issue to Adobe.

@George30111612f6oc, thanks for that information.  But have you tried refreshing the list (of devices).

@George30111612f6oc a Mac user has told me that he can get the APD to recognize a CFexpress card reader, but sometimes he needs to click on the refresh list command before it shows up.  ISTR that your issue is one that only relates to Windows.  Can you please test this out for me by:

  • inserting the card reader and seeing whether the card is recognized by Windows in Windows File Explorer
  • launching the Organizer after the card reader has been recognized
  • and/or using the refresh list command in the APD's dropdown menu:

I don't have a CFexpress card reader, so can't test this for myself.  Thanks.

@George30111612f6oc I think you have already figured it out, but the Elements APD will not recognize a CFexpress card reader.  It will only read your card via a USB connection.

Do you have organizer actualy import the images, typically found in the dcim folder?  From what I understand all did is "look at them" not acutally import them.

DCIM stands for digital camera images.

Thanks for Replying Glenn

In the organizer I clicked on import from "camera or card reader" and when I try to get photos from It says <none detected> Is there a way of setting this up.

do this instead- be sure to select the dcim folder.   How big is the memory chip?
