Question

Two problems with the lasso tool and pasting

Glenn answered my original question, but I was not able to post my reply.  I have two other questions about using the lasso tool, then copy and paste.  (1) If I lasso part of my original photograph, and want to paste it over something I want to cover up, how do I make it work the first time I paste it? I have had to paste it 7-8 times (thereby creating layers on top of layers, I assume?) in order to completely cover up the bad spot.  (2) If I make a lasso and they copy of an area on my original photo, how many times can I paste it, say, in different places?

CTRL+C ( at the same time) copies a selection.  CTRL key and the plus sign pressed  at the same time
CTRL +V ( at the same time) pastes the selection-- every time you past something it gets pasted onto it’s own layer.

Generally I think most users would clone over a bad spot or use the remove  tool found in pse 2026.

It would  help a great deal if you could post a screenshot of what you are working with.

Thanks again, Glenn.  I don’t know how to do a screen shot. I have a Keychron keyboard, and it says I need to do Ctrl Shift S, but that doesn’t work.  I don’t have Photoshop 2026. I don’t know how to find out which Photoshop Elements I have.  I already know the keyboard shortcuts you mentioned for copying and pasting. But like I said in my message, I can’t copy because when I do a lasso, and do ctrl + C, it says I don’t have pixels.  And the photo you kindly sent here isn’t like my Photoshop Elements.  I don’t have the Layer buttons you show.
