Is your computer set to automatically hide the taskbar?  If so, that can create problems with the menus working properly.  Turn that off in Windows Settings.

If that is not the problem, try reducing the size of the window.  (What size monitor are you using?)

Hi Mike, there are several trouble-shooting steps to take.  But there a few things that need to be clarified.

1. What happens when you click on the Pictures folder in the left hand Folder panel. It appears that media from that source have been imported.

2.  Click on the Organizer's title bar. It sometimes takes a couple of seconds for it to achieve focus, particularly if some processes are taking place in the background.

3. Check the Task Manager for any activity in the Organizer or  in Elements Auto Creations 2021.

4. Press Ctrl-K to open the Preferences dialog. Go to the Media Analysis tab and uncheck all the boxes.

5.  Press Ctrl-1. I f you accidentally pressed this key combination with the Organizer open, it would remove all photos from view. If you are able to access the View>Media Types menu, you can find the toggle there.

6. Are you able to access the menus, using  Alt-keys? (Alt-F; Alt-E; Alt-I; Alt-V; and Alt-H)

Greg,

I’m grateful for your reply.

The following day I started the PSE Organiser again – left it for 10 minutes – then it started working OK.

This was the very first time I’d tried to use PSE Organiser and I wonder if it needed to be initialised or if there are some background tasks that need to be processed the very first time it’s fired up.

I have managed to import some pictures.

  1. What happens when you click on the Pictures folder

ANS it now shows my ‘Pictures’ folder structure on my PC

  1. Click on the Organizer's title bar …

ANS yes, understood

  1. Check the Task Manager …

ANS it looks like this

  1. Press Ctrl-K to open the Preferences …

ANS yep, understood

  1. Press Ctrl-1. If you accidentally …

ANS yep, understood

6 Are you able to access the menus, using Alt-keys?

ANS yep, they all work now.

I am now trying to add Albums and Tags to my pictures.  I don’t mind telling you it’s quite difficult.  I keep on getting messages saying ‘This name already exists’ when it clearly doesn’t and I can’t get the calendar thing to work at all.

I have ended up deleting all my pictures from the catalogue and starting again by reimporting them.

I am trying to learn by watching various YouTube videos and of course following your very own ‘Elements Organiser Help’, ‘Getting Started’, ‘Key Concepts’, and your ‘Video Tutorials’.

Sorry, but I may well appear on this Forum again!

Thanks again – Best Wishes - Mike
