Question

Unable to open Photoshop Elements 15

After being told that the customer service line could not and would not help me unless I had bought the newest version of Elements; I have came here looking for help. I need Photoshop every day for my work as a freelance Graphic Designer. This has came to a halt after a couple days ago I tried to open the program and it would not open- the attached organizer and premiere video editor opens just fine- it is just the photoshop component that doesn't seem to open.

I looked everywhere for answers- and tried all of the options; nothing seemed to work. Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling- nothing.

In windows task manager the program says it is running (i've tried closing all instances- still nothing) but it is no where to be found on screen.

Would love some help- thanks!

Tori

Try making a new desktop shortcut. Hold down the Windows key and press D to get quickly to your desktop.

Right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose

New >> Shortcut

Click the browse button and navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 15

Inside the Photoshop Elements 15 folder scroll to the files beginning with P and find the application.

Choose (highlight) PhotoshopElementsEditor

Click Next and then Finish

You should be able to use the new desktop icon in future to launch the PSE15 Editor directly.

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried this. It still does the same outcome.

The program "launches" it just does not appear on my screen. It says it is running in the task manager, but it's not anywhere on the screen. So the program is there, it's just not appearing.

Try trashing the saved prefs.

Quit Elements from the task manager, then try launching the Editor whilst simultaneously holding down the three keys on Windows (Ctrl+Alt+Shift)

After two or three seconds release the keys and you should see a pop-up to delete the prefs. Click “Yes” to delete the settings.

Two ideas that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10

-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window

-or Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL Windows permissions may help... this says Encore, but is sometimes required for ALL Adobe programs (this is NOT the same as using an Administrator account) so follow the instructions for your specific program

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers

Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

•ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

There are also intermittent reports that the newest driver is not always the best driver due to driver bugs or compatibility issues, so you MAY need to try an earlier driver version

This program is not old! It's been working for months now before this sudden problem. I have tried running in all modes, updating EVERYTHING and then also reverting back. It is only the photoshop side of this program- the others seem to run just fine? It shows that it is running in the task manager- instantly.
