Unable to overwrite jps, pngs, etc.

I'm using Photoshop Elements 2024 on macOS, and can save and overwrite PSD files just fine.

However, when I go to save over a jpg, png (or possibly other formats too) it'll give me a

Replace option, but upon selecting it, it'll still create a copy leaving the original untouched.

That's a good thing. You should never ever overwrite your original anyway.
